Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be eligible for graduation from a school in Dane County. Applicants must be pursuing course studies in business, finance or entrepreneurship. Applicants must be eligible for admission to an accredited technical school or college where the student will pursue courses toward an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $1,000 award. Up to two awards will be granted each year. Awards are for undergraduate study for one year only and are not renewable. The award will be paid in two installments of $500 at the beginning of each semester and upon to the school on behalf of the student.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of their application to the committee. Financial need is not considered. Selection of the recipients is made by a committee appointed by Junior Achievement of Wisconsin in Dane County.

How to Apply

To apply for the Vernon J. Hellenbrand Memorial Scholarship, interested students must submit:

• Completed application.
• An essay describing the reasons they are pursuing studies in business, finance, or entrepreneurship. Essays should be 500 words or less
• Current, complete official high school transcripts of grades.
• Letters of recommendation from a business person or community leader and from a teacher or school administrator.
