Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must graduate from a Dane County school, pursue studies in business, finance, or entrepreneurship, and be eligible for admission to an accredited school to earn an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree.

Awards

Selected students will receive a $1,500 award. Up to two awards are given each year, for one-year undergraduate study only. Paid in two $750 installments, awards are sent to the school after enrollment verification.

Selection of Recipients

Recipients are selected by a committee chosen by Junior Achievement of Wisconsin in Dane County. Selection is based on the application only. Financial need is not part of the selection process

How to Apply

To apply for the Vernon J. Hellenbrand Memorial Scholarship, interested students must submit:

  • Completed application
  • An essay describing the reasons they are pursuing studies in business, finance, or entrepreneurship. Essays should be 500 words or less.
  • Current, complete official high school transcripts of grades
  • Letters of recommendation from a business person or community leader and from a teacher or school administrator
