What Zoned Temperature Control is and why you need it

The only place where the temperature matches the thermostat is at the thermostat. Heat rises, leaving your first floor cool and the second floor hot. Cool air settles into your basement. Windows to the south soak up the sun, while harsh winds cool the north side of your house. Add some of today's most desired home design features, and the problem gets worse.

Expecting one thermostat in a single room to control temperature variations throughout your home is asking the impossible. Aprilaire Temperature Control solves the problem of inconsistent, uncomfortable temperatures by placing a thermostat in up to four separate areas (zones) of your home.

You need Zoned Temperature Control in your home if one or more of these conditions exist:

  • Family lifestyles dictate different temperatures in different areas of the home.
  • Heating and cooling temperature patterns vary at different times of the day.

Your home has:

  • More than one level.
  • Large, open areas such as vaulted ceilings or lofts, an atrium or a solarium.
  • A room off the back or over the garage.
  • Finished rooms in the basement or attic.
  • A room or rooms with expansive glass areas.
  • A portion built over a concrete slab floor.
  • A rambling floor plan or wings extending off the main living area.

Control temperature in up to four zones of your home with Aprilaire Zoned Temperature Control.

How Zoned Temperature Control Works

Aprilaire Zoned Temperature Control is a system of thermostats, electronically connected to the Aprilaire Model 6504 control panel located near your heating and cooling system.

The Model 6504 panel shares information between thermostats and opens and closes dampers located in the system ductwork to control heating and cooling in each zone. Conditioned air is distributed where you need it, when you need it, making you and your family more comfortable and saving you money by using less energy for heating and cooling needs.
